I am a mom to two gorgeous kids and a wife to a workaholic husband. I am a bit of a nomad currently living in Vienna Austria. This is a city full of amazing art, opera and oodles of inspiration! It is my 10th country (so far) and I have to admit I am addicted to moving around (yes my poor kids). I studied and worked in Graphic design after leaving school, then moved (again) and studied photography for a few years, I am still pretty addicted to creating photographs and using the camera to help me understand the world around me. If you want to follow along for photography please check out www.imagesbycassandra.com.
I also studied illustration for awhile in-between having my kiddies and for a long time I wondered how to mix all my create loves together. Then I came across surface design and I fell head over heals in love. Even when I studied and practised graphic design my favourite part was product design.
Nowadays with sites such as spoonflower and society 6 it has become that much easier to create design which can have a life and a purpose. There is nothing better than seeing creations come to life. So I hope you will check out my designs:

"In the act of creativity, being careful guarantees sameness and mediocrity, which means your work will be invisible. Better to be reckless than careful. Better to be bold than safe."
After leaving school I studied graphic design. I loved it and worked in the industry for a few years afterwards. I could never really put my finger on what it was about design that I loved so much. Then I moved country (I had done that a few times already) to a country where I wasn’t allowed to work. For the first 3 months it was just fun and games, but ten it became boring and I started to feel pretty listless. So I started studying photography and it became an obsession that I truly believe will stay with my for all my days. Photography helped me to see the world around me, to better understand it and make sense of what it is that I liked and disliked.
A few years later (and 10 of thousands of photographs later) and I was in another country with my first born. I started to study illustration which was just a lot of fun.
“The arts especially address the idea of aesthetic experience. An aesthetic experience is one in which your senses are operating at their peak; when you’re present in the current moment; when you’re resonating with the excitement of this thing that you’re experiencing; when you are fully alive.”
― Ken Robinson
When I fell into surface design I realised something. When in collage my favourite kind of design was product design. Photography feeds my designs and illustration. My travels fuel all of my creativity.
I know now what it is that I love about this kind of work, it is the act of creativity itself. Bringing something from the imagination into an idea and growing that idea, moulding it into something that takes on it’s own life.
I would love to hear from you. Send me an email anytime, I am always happy to talk, especially over a good cup of coffee.
