The delicate nature of a moth was something I wanted to find a way to capture. I remember as a child that dead moth wings would disintegrate into dust. I was always fascinated with how fragile these beautiful winged insects are.

To create this design I used some lithograph and cut the shapes of the wings. I then used them as stamps with both blue and gold paint. I finished off the pattern and created the repeat using photoshop. I liked the simple stamps and enjoyed making them into a more chaotic design to resemble many moths all together.

Seeing designs as mock ups is so much fun and thanks to sites like Society6 and Spoonflower you can see your designs come to life. These sites create things you couldn’t even imagine could be created with your designs. I find it very addictive to design with a purpose and find that it helps to stimulate inspiration.
