A Moment's Pause ...

Beginning Again

There comes a moment when you realise you have been collecting pieces of yourself for years.

A photograph taken on a walk.

A drawing in a sketchbook.

A poem scribbled on a quiet afternoon.

None of them seemed connected at the time.

Yet somehow they all belonged to the same conversation.

This week I began rebuilding my website.

At first it felt like organising photographs and changing pages.

Instead, it became a question.

What do I hope people feel when they leave?

I realised the answer had very little to do with photography, illustration or design.

I simply hope they pause.

Long enough to notice the beauty that so easily slips by.

Perhaps that's why this leaf caught my attention.

One small patch of light among so much darkness.

It wasn't asking to be admired.

It simply happened to be there.

Waiting for someone to notice.

Maybe that's what I'll try to do here each week.

Pause.

Notice.

And leave a small reminder that the ordinary world still has plenty to say.

~ The world is always speaking. We only have to notice.

Always learning to see,
Cassandra
